Its almost Friday (YAY) but before tomorrow comes along I have a big day in clinic following up with and seeing new clients to get through! So to keep me on my feet I’m pulling my (dusty) blender out and blitzing up a mix of goodness. This one is 100% Paleo so there is NO fruit, dairy, gluten or added sugar…. but PLENTY of healthy FAT! By eating FAT you are NOT going to get fat! Fat is needed within your diet to help regulate and balance your sex hormones (oestrogen, progesterone, testosterone), improve concentration, memory, energy, helps the body use essential vitamins, protects your organs from injury (acts as a protective cushion) and most importantly, provides the structural components of myelin, the sheath surround each nerve fibre in the brain, to deliver messages faster! So eat all those avocados! because FAT IS YOUR FRIEND! Naturally, K IG: @itswholesomekay FB: /WholesomeKay
“Whats up doc” What do you do when you have way too many carrots on hand? (Besides eating them all) Make a divine loaf of bugs bunny approved carrot cake. Carrots are a great ingredient to add to your cakes, desserts, breakfast, dinner because they are one of the richest sources of Vitamin A, a fat-soluble vitamin that is great for your vision and helping to boost your immune system. It is also an antioxidant which can help protect against inflammation and oxidative stress caused by free radicals. Carrots are rich in fibre, low in calories and available all year round. Icing- I personally don’t think icing is needed because it is already sweet enough with the medjool dates, but incase you like it the traditional way: Dairy Free Icing: whip 1 cup of coconut cream until thick, add 1 teaspoon of carrot gratings with a dash of cinnamon High protein icing: mix 1 scoop vanilla protein powder, 1 tablespoon almond milk, ½ cup greek yoghurt, 1 tsp vanilla extract. Of course, with allergies and …
Christmas day is all about sharing the good stuff (aka food, of course) with your family and friends so I thought why not do some myself, and share recipes to inspire you this Christmas! They are simple, easy and quick to make and are perfect for last minute ideas or disastrous re-makes. (let’s be honest, we have ALL been there!) The recipes come from people who have inspired me along the way and have a similar philosophy of me in nourishing the body with wholesome healthy, fresh foods.
I know its only November but you can never prepare for christmas too early. My favourite time of year is only rightly celebrated with my (so far) favourite chocolate recipe. May I introduce you into the jolly month of December with these chocolate bliss balls….. its okay, you can thank me later.
Call me a freak for saying this, but it happens every time and I need to tell you all about it. I truly do love bananas. But every time I go to peel one and eat it, all I can think of is
Spent yesterday baking ahead for afternoon tea with my baby cousin and aunty, when I came a cross a heap of organic beetroots I forgot about in my back fridge. I’ve always loved the taste of them but never found a way to make something tastier than a boring boiled beetroot and spinach salad, so I went onto pintrest and found some inspiration for this Beetroot Dip – which I made for the first time in my new Optimum 4200 blender!
I’m sure you could agree with me food is life and you only squat to drop it low, sticking yo cheeks out as far back as you can for all the boys/girls to see and drool over when you return for another 15 reps. Its okay, you’re not alone, I totally get you. You gotta use those mirrors to your advantage somehow. Hehehehe
Holy crap. Holy wow. Holy Sweet Potato, you make my mouth water? One of my favourite foods and must-haves is Sweet potato.. especially as chips, baked and stuffed with cauliflower coleslaw, baked until its caramel and sweet, as gnocchi and right now, IN BROWNIES! I have to admit
You know when its a cold day and all you want is a hot cup of soup that warms the inside of your throat as you take each sip? I experienced that exact feeling last night.
I hear what you’re thinking…. Chickpeas are great for making hummus, but in chocolate chip cookies??? Ew. I’ve spent the last few days trying to master a healthy version of choc chip cookies and after many taste testing sessions, I have finally come up with a rather interesting version with an odd ingredient.. Chickpeas…
